Click on the top to follow us UK-headquartered consulting and engineering specialist Wood on Thursday confirmed it had won the front-end engineering and design contract for the development of Singapore LNG’s second liquefied natural gas import facility. Currently, more than 95% of the city state’s power is generated from natural gas, according to Singapore's Economic Development Board. With an estimated 5 million tonnes per annum of additional capacity to come from this LNG expansion, the new terminal will further enhance and secure Singapore’s growing energy needs, noted Wood. The project will feature a floating storage and regasification unit, the first-of-its-kind to be deployed permanently for Singapore. Intended to be located at the Jurong Port, the terminal will feature facilities for transfer of regasified volumes from the vessel to the onshore gas transmission network.
