The project :FIGHTBLIGHT is a cooperation project with Prof. Silvia Restrepo (Boyce Thompson Institute, Ithaca, NY, USA) and Prof. Sophien Kamoun (The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich, UK). Using our recently published Cas-Exo technology for targeted insertions (Schreiber et al., 2024 https://doi.org/10.1016/j.molp.2024.03.013 ), we plan to integrate novel effector recognition domains in immune receptors of potato to confer resistance to potato late blight cause by the oomycete Phytophthora infestans .
