He received his PhD from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), was a postdoctoral researcher at the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics (Santa Barbara, USA) and an assistant professor at the University of Sao Paulo (Sao Carlos, Brazil).
