For example, Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of my favorite rock band, Queen, was an immigrant. Mercury's parents were Indian Parsis (Persians from India). His father moved to British Zanzibar (now part of Tanzania) due to his work as a cashier for the British colonial office. Mercury was born in Zanzibar and spent his teenage years there and in India. During the Zanzibar Revolution in 1964, when Arabs and South Asians were persecuted, Mercury's parents fled to the UK with the whole family and settled in Feltham, near London. Freddie completed his studies there and eventually embarked on his musical journey, becoming one of the greatest singers in rock history and a groundbreaking artist whose legacy continues
