The ship lands on Friday (October 11) at C's on Friday, and out will emerge Alfonso Fernandez – The Bassoonist. Joining him will be his Shanghai-based friends, like DJ BO. Flying in directly from Madrid, Spain, this unique DJ/musician will spin world-groove tunes – “Afrotropical-dub sound.” He'll combine his expansive rhythmic perspective with his musicianship: he's known for incorporation live bassoon playing into his DJ sets. He's previously performed in Shanghai with DJ BO's Funky Teppenyaki, and with reggae-fusion group Planeta Lem. Beyond that, he's performed across Asia (Japan, Mongolia), Europe, and the USA, including with his afro-beat orchestra.
