为什么可以说He is difficult to please？

口语社群 里面有同学提到了一个句式：XX have been hard to find. 这个句式直觉上可能不太好理解，比如要表达“他很难取悦”，一些同学会写成：He is hard to be pleased . 但正确写法是：He is hard to please. 这属于一种“主动表被动”用法。《英语常见问题解答大词典》指出，英语里面有一些形容词要求一个及物动词不定式来作它们的补足语。但在语义上，句子的主语是 动词不定式的宾语 。比如上面的句子里面，he在语义上是to please的宾语。 这样的形容词除了hard之外，还有awkward, easy, fit, difficult, impossible, tough, unpleasant等。比如下面这几个词典例句： (1) This cake is very easy to make.
