Desalination technology for water separation and purification The focus of this special issue is on innovative techniques specifically tailored for the treatment of salinity contained wastewater. The scopes of this VSI includes, but not limited to: 1. Membrane distillation for separation or purification of feed solution containing salts 2. Electro-driven membranes in ion resource recovery 3. Adsorption membranes for separating heavy metal ions in saline water 4. RO/FO/NF/ED process for saline water 5. Membrane fouling in the saline water separation process 6. Simulation/theoretical modeling of ion transport in membranes 7. Freezing desalination, laser desalination and crystallization 8. Other unconventional strategies for separating salinity contained wastewater.
