Over 20 UHV transmission lines have been constructed to facilitate the transfer of electricity from the energy-rich western regions to the demand centers in the east. The empirical findings demonstrate that UHV transmission significantly contributes to economic growth in electricity-exporting regions, all the while managing to stave off an escalation in overall CO2 emissions.
