The court in Daye City delivered the verdict of the case which is considered the first of its kind as it involves the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to write erotic novels for profit. The defendant, Mr. Ke, was sentenced to ten months in prison and fined 5,000 RMB for producing, selling, and distributing obscene materials for profit; his illegal gains were also confiscated. According to court records, a college graduate and online literature author, Ke, used an AI program to write erotic novels, then used a VPN to circumvent the great firewall to publish them on overseas pornographic websites, and sell them on other overseas platforms.
