On 22nd January, officials executed a raid at a hotel in the Cotai area, leading to the arrest of the suspects, who now face charges related to unlawful currency exchange for gambling purposes. One of the detainees is additionally charged for illegally entering the region. Authorities seized a substantial cache of currency during the operation, including HK$2,352,100 in cash, HK$66,700 in gaming chips, and ¥3,300 in RMB. The case has been referred to the Macau Public Prosecutions Office for further investigation. The arrested individuals include two men surnamed Cao and Liu, and two women surnamed Fan and Hu.
