The detection of viral DNA is a central strategy the host senses infection and initiates protective immune responses. The cGAS-STING pathway plays a central role in the immune response towards microbial infection. As a leader in the structural characterization of the cGAS-STING pathway, we have contributed significantly to this field. For example, we have determined the crystal structures of cGAS in complex with dsDNA (Xin Li et al. Immunity). We have also determined the structures of STING in complex with cGAMP (Chang Shu et al. NSMB). Moreover, we have solved the structures of TBK1 bound to STING (Baoyu Zhao et al. Nature). In our study last year, we have determined the structure of cGAS bound to the nucleosome core particle (NCP), ………………………………
